Using your home for workshopsMy next door neighbour is intrested in offering courses in a really nice converted barn/studio she has. It would be for various things but she wants me to do a feltmaking one. I know my insurance covers me for teaching workshops but what kind of insurance would she need?

Thanks
I ought to do more teaching really - people always ask if I have any courses on the go.
Risk assessment is a good point LW.

I'm sure I mentioned teaching to you not long back and got my head bitten off .
Its bread and butter for the vast majority of artists and craftspeople. If you'd like any advice re funding for 'teaching' projects pm me, I'd be happy to help.

Can't see why I'd have bitten your head off about teaching, I already do it I find it tiring, that's why I don't do so much of it.

Stacey - if I were you, Id do workshops. I teach part time vocational classes for Cornwall Adult ed and Duchy College.
If Im organised and get all the paperwork done in pleanty of time before the event, I think they are ok. Yes, they are tiring, but a good earner.
Recently, because of cut backs, CAES in some areas (ie Newquay) have decided they are ponly going to offer certificated classes. So there is noone teaching vocational 'I just want to go along and learn to....' classes. If you did a half day or full day once a month, or every 2 months, that would be ok. I do them from home also (because part of my classes are chicken handling or humane dispatch)
There is a growing market for them.
