Vehicle tracking and road pricing policySorry if this is in the wrong forum, I thought this might be the best place to put it. There is an e-petition on http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/traveltax which is about fitting tracking devices to vehicles and charging around £20 per month for it's use. Then there is the monthly cost, down to how much you travel. Below is a quote, from the email a friend sent to me (I have passed it on to many others) :
| Quote: | The government's proposal to introduce road pricing will mean you having to purchase a tracking device for your car and paying a monthly bill to use it. The tracking device will cost about £200 and in a recent study by the BBC, the lowest monthly bill was £28 for a rural florist and £194 for a delivery driver. A non working Mum who used the car to take the kids to school paid £86 in one month. On top of this massive increase in tax, you will be tracked. Somebody will know where you are at all times. They will also know how fast you have been going, so even if you accidentally creep over a speed limit in time you can probably expect a Notice of Intended Prosecution with your monthly bill.

I know we should be trying to cut down on pollution, etc but this is going too far. Businesses may go bust due to travel costs. Deliveries may become so much more expensive, the post could become even more expensive than it is now.
I have signed the petition and I hope more people will do so as well. I have even forwarded the email to my sister in Canada. Anyone for emigration?
