Walled gardenOn our travels in North Devon this week, we came across the little gem that is the Clovelly Estate walled garden. We virtualy had the place to ourselves and it proved to be a peaceful idylic haven. Feast your eyes on the vegetable garden and the greenhouses.
I appologise for the number of pictures but it was such a fantastic place.

Looks lovely Bodger. We've never gone there and it's just down the road, we'll have to remedy that.

Looks lovely. As does the soil. Never made it to that garden yet, but it's on the to do list.
Last time we were in Dorset, we made a day trip to Knightshayes on the eastern edge of Devon. Lovely garden, but most impressive for being able to create a grand walled garden on such a steep slope.

Don't bother with Clovelly village itself, its now a closed village and you have to cross their palms with £5.50 to get into it. Rip off Britain eh ?

Gorgeous . The pictures of the glasshouses transported me back to the ones in Cambridge Botanical Gardens - I could almost smell the heavenly scent of them!

I want one.
There are a number of walled gardens in this region not being used to full potential.

I've always wanted a walled garden, but mostly I just covet that soil. You culd top crumble with that. You could make bricks with mine!
