Wanted: rodent-proof feed binsI need to get another 2-3 rodent-proof feed bins so I'm just wondering if anyone knows of a good price online (or in south Wales!) for either galvanised feed / dustbins or food-grade plastic barrels. Or, at least, has an idea of what the going rate is for new or second hand.
Ta!

Haven't we got a member called Barrelman who sells, well, barrels?
Rats could gnaw through a plastic one. Steel barrels with a circle cut out of the top and a lid over them would be better.

I looked on ebay but they were all local pick up only.
Cheers, Faithmead, I'll take a look at my local feed merchants, if not I'm going to be in Carmarthen in a week or two so I'll pop in there!

we use galvanised dust bins too. They're excellent as long as the badgers don't get the lids off.

In the local free rag October ad paper there were 45litre steel drums with lids for £5 each, and possible delivery (though would probably only go to your mum's rather than you).. not too sure where my copy is of that, but my mum still has hers if you'd like the phone number?

Ah, good thinking, chicken feed!
I've got a couple of galvanised bins but since I pinched them ("borrowed") from my mother, I've no idea what they cost!!!!!

Would anyone like it if I did a tutorial of how to convert a barrel into a feed bin?

What about freecycle for chest freezers? I often see them going on there and there are 3 groups in the area (Cardiff, RCT and Bridgend).

I've been using a large chest freezer to stroe feed (holds about 7 bags, but the only problem is mice or rats have now chewed the rubber seal and the lid doesn't site tight. The mice (gap too small for rats I think) get in a chew the bags. The galvanised storage bin is better.
