WANTED: Somewhere to live please ...

It's pretty likely that we are going to need to find somewhere else to live in the next few weeks. It's possible that we'll be able to stay here - but really, I think we both feel that settling somewhere and having a fresh start before the new baby arrives (in eight weeks, not that we're on the clock or anything) would be good.

If any of you Welsh Lot and Lurkers know anyone with anything they'd be prepared to let in Mid-Wales, or anyone with a bit of land we could put a static caravan on, please could you PM me?

There's me and Arvo, two babies under 1, three cats and two dozen chickens. We'll consider anything and don't require posh things like double glazing or fitted carpets. Very rural with veg beds and a rayburn would our ideal ... I can't cope with a town these days.

Off to write some notices out to put up in the local shops now.

Good luck, Chez, hope something comes up.

You'd be welcome to camp out here, but it's not close to Manchester. Until now, I've always considered that an advantage!
marigold

Good luck Chez - I'm going to be looking for somewhere for me soon. Need to cut living expenses by half. At least. Am thinking of asking my brother and SIL if they'll build me a shed in their garden...
Nanny

are you only considering mid wales then chez?

i can keep my ear to the ground around here if you like
Chez

We can't really be any further south, Nanny - because of the drive-time to Manchester. But there's some flexibility if we could find somewhere cheap, so there'd be money in the kitty for Arvo to B&B in Manchester (and for more petrol of course).
Cathryn

Shall I ask my landlord Chez? He owns several properties in this village and if they don't have land, mine does so we could share animal care.

I will ask, then if all are taken no problem.

And I will ask Machynlleth friends.
Chez

Yes please, Cathryn - we'll consider anything. It's the money versus time equation - and we can look at that on a case-by-case basis.
Andrea

I've got a lovely place in Portugal available immediately ...

Lots of room for chickens Cool

And in my wilder moments I've been considering it Laughing. We have to live on *something* though - and the commute to Manchester would be a bit inconvenient Confused.

We saw somewhere yesterday that would be perfect - right price, right location, right size, and THREE QUARTERS OF AN ACRE. It's got one more viewing on it at the tail end of next week by someone vaguely interested in buying it ... but if that's a no-go, it's ours.

And we're going to look at another one this morning that someone on the local freecycle wants to rent out; but I think that that might only be for six months.

Appendages and Pseudopods crossed for us, please! Laughing
Cathryn

Everything crossed. Smile
Bebo

I'm even crossing my eyes!

even though im a neighbour of nanny's, i will keep my ears open. I posted a wanted to freecycle about somewhere to live and i had two live in job offers and a caravan on a farm offer. If you really are in dire need, write a letter to all teh local housing associations, they might be able to put you on thier lists or recommend you to a private landlord. We also have a lot of national trust and cadw properties round here, try them too. what about your nearest big schools? most have a caretaker's house, a friend of mine was homeless and did 6 months as a school caretaker in a 3 bed house and then moved onto an estate job out in the forestry.

i think a good honest chat with family might also help. i hated to admit to mine that i was looking to move but once i did alot of possibilities were thrown up! ( pardon the pun)

anyway, let us all know what help we can be...i have a long list of contacts from my camphill days.
