Website interactive map thingiesYears ago I knew a website that had a map of the UK with little blobs on it, and when you hovered your cursor over the blob you wanted, a little speech bubble came up and told you more information about that location. I want one, but don't know where to start looking for one... |

You can also integrate Google maps which could do the task.
Flash and javascipt are but two alternatives. I don't know if there's an off the shelf solution which will do this, getting copyright free maps can be awkward if you DIY. |

ah yes, google does seem to do something along these lines but i'm having trouble deciphering it all....have to know javascript or something.... | ||

Most website graphics packages will do this sort of thing. You can create an "image map" - see http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/tag_map.asp for example. The graphics package will automatically generate the coordinates within the map. (It doesn't have to be a real geographic map, it can be any image / diagram etc.). | ||

This was looked at ages ago, it was in the very early days of google maps and I think we figured that it was fine for noddy examples, but would die under the strain of what we would put it though. But in google maps terms, 3 years a ago is out of the Ark. |

Ok well, think I did it! The map shows where (most) of the members of my ixworth club are, and thus you can see the spread of ixworths easily  there are more out there, I'm steadily hunting them down

I have a lovely mapping thing for work that gives me various types of maps and arial photo, then when you click it gives you 3D relief of the site, environmental info, the usual property searches and even a sites Planning History
