Weimaraner puppiesI have 3 Weimaraner dog puppies, presently 3 weeks old. They are bred from dogs that are shown, but this is a dual purpose breed, with intact working instincts. They would suit show, working or pet home, so long as committed and energetic. Ideally not first time dog owner - when I went to see my first one I was told,
"A Weimaraner knows someone has to be in charge - if you are not, it will be."
I would love to hear from prospective purchasers, but please do not be offended by close enquiries about home circumstances.
Andrea.

One badly ripped my sons upper lip when he was young. Not been excatly fond of then since. I find them nervous dogs. Is it true they don't have a long lifespan?

I don't think they are prone to nervousness, but early socialisation is very important. Lifespan is quite variable. I know of plenty who have lived to 13/14, but I lost my first one last year at 11 which I felt was too soon - she was particularly precious

I ought to have said - I am of course sorry to hear about your son, but there can be rogue dogs in any breed or indeed crossbreed. There can also be accidents caused by over exuberance as much as malice (clearly I don't know how it happened). I was bitten at 5 yrs old by a farm collie - my Mum heaved a sigh of relief thinking it would make me leave dogs alone in future - didn't work!!

Oh, no need to be sorry It was serious at the time and left a scar but that part of life's misadventures. I didn't blame the dog even at the time. The familiy it belonged to were going through a stressful time and I think that was a reflection. Fortunately, one of them was a doctor and got Adam into the East Grinstead palstic surgery unit by pulling a few strings. Otherwise it would have been the local A and E. We had the option of putting the dog down but didn't feel it was right to do so.
