Love the site Im spending lots of time reading old posts I found it by accident through searching google for "charcoal" of all things I see there are one or two from France here we are in the dieux severes and have been since december last year we had a little terraced house in lancashire and now we have an acre of land and two houses at the end of a town complete with all the shops we need so we are not in deep dark France as we planned and would recomend it to anyone who wants to try the good life but can not aford it like us. in England we have chickens seven of them and one coq we bought three small blue coppered marans and they are nearly egg laying and the other four girls are from the market around here they are described as "rustic" heinz 57s but do look like like black coppered marans and lay dark eggs and are far more fun than their pedigree moaning pure breed companions we are growing all our veg in fact too much we give away basketfuls to all our two friends or tomatoes eggs courgettes chillis peppers auborgines .We are in the middle of a drought here so we are growing a lot in home made growbags so the water stays in the bag and we find it safes a lot of water next yaer we plan to keep every drop that comes off our roof because water is one thing in France that costs more than the UK ,No car tax, rates for the house less than half of what we paid in the Uk for our terraced and we have two houses (one for mother) and land yes we would recomend it missing the pub and the millions of friends we left behind but it is worth it .I have nearly finished building a forge so with a year of practice I might be able to make something with it
