well that went badly!i just tried to free range my dorking and pekin chicks in the garden.
however my silkie x (who also has 3 chicks) took extreem unbridge to the pekins. one of the littel sweeties got to close and got a trashing for it. i resced her hiding under the cabbages. and then the silkie went after the other. they are now safely back in the brooder calming down. she didn't seem to bother the dorkings but they are much bigger and stayed together.....
what to do now?

Wait a bit until they're bigger and try again. Bless her - the EVIL EVIL STRANGE LOOKING CHICKS WILL EAT HER BABIES. I expect she'll be better when hers are bigger.
