What about blogs?I was thinking about making a system where when you look at particular forums, it does topics as usual, but when you view the topic it shows the first post in the topic plus the first post of other topics by the same author, each post would have a reply/view comments option which would allow you to reply or take you to the normal view of the topic.
To my mind that is virtually all a blog is anyway?

Sounds good. Jema, you are a pioneer.

Sounds just the thing for any budding stalkers

Well search by author would be more effective for that!

Interesting idea I think I like the sound of it I'd like to see it, I think.

But has anyone mentioned this to Gervase?

Tsk! I'm not against blogs per se; just 99.98 per cent of blogs. I like Jema's idea - how often do we find that someone with whom we disagree on one issue is also a misguided wuckfit on every other issue, so the 'comment/reply' facility would be very tempting. Not to a paragon of tolerance like me, you understand, but there may be some who would find it handy.

Gervase, you are my hero

Might not such a facility actually be most heavily used by the "misguided wuckfits" themselves?

I could see someone with a keen interest in container gardening, recycling and building on flood-plains finding it handy.

I quite like the idea of a blog, but I'd like the option to theme it a bit more, so I've thought about (and not got any further than thinking) about having a blog just for knitting projects, or food, or costume stuff. It could be interesting to have a blog option on the site, but thinking purely about how I post here, the list you are suggesting would read alternatley 'heres a daft idea I had', 'this is how stuck I am with my housework' and 'help, I've got it all wrong and need rescuing', so would be very random reading and probablynot as interesting as a blog set up for a particular purpose.

Well how people post anywhere is up to them.
This is not suggesting that people cease to post elsewhere, just that one forum is set aside in blog style.
If it did not work, then it could easily me merged into chat.

Is a blog made from my myff forum announcements.

Well it is harmless to put in, I will probably give it a week or three to settle on myff first though. Bound to be the odd buggette.

I don't understand what will happen?

Animals will start speaking in tongues and strangeness will appear. Mark my words.

Take no notice, Frewen. Good things will happen, new friends, double chocolate cake and a lightness of being will descend upon you.

I'm with Gervase on this one. There'll probably be portents and stuff. Maybe even omens. Followed by The End of Days.

When do the clocks go back?
|
sean

I don't usually check when it's going to happen. I wait for the Sunday morning when someone posts that the clock is wrong followed by reply which explains how to change the time on your view of the forum.

I thought you were down with the kids? What happened?

That's what they all think as well. Possibly. I'm not sure how Gervase got so in tune with the youth of today.

Hmmm...
I agree this is the end of the world. But what's the problem with blogging it?
|
sean
|
Futility.
|
hedgewitch

But futility is the only thing left, daddyio, so we might as well blog it

Yes.
And I'm scared. I think you might be right about Wales.

You'll be fine. Take tea, Marmite and drinking water. If the natives look menacing impress them with a simple conjuring trick or two.
