What price for 4month old quails? This is just a thought/idea, for if another idea/plan goes ahead.
I've got 4 females at 4 months old and 2 males and 3 females at 11 months old, both are in the midst of their first laying season.
What sort of price could I sell them for? or would anyone be interested in offering me a price?
I know when i got my first lot I paid £4 at 4 weeks old for them. I'd like to sell my 4 month olds at £4 each as they are just at the start of their laying season, but dont know if this is reasonable, and I'd be willing to sell the older lot at a £1 each... males must be sold with the females, but willing to do a reduced price on them.
Does this seem like an ok price for them?

I used to buy the females for £5 each and the males for £2. I believe the price of the females subsequently went up to £6 and the males £3.

I've sold them at POL (8-10 weeks) in local poultry auctions for £24 a trio & also for as little as £1 a bird.
I personally think £4.00 a bird is reasonable considering the number of eggs they will lay but the older birds I would sell cheaper.

I would be interested once we have moved in to our house, no room here at the rented cottage. Happy to pay £3-6 for them.
Daft question maybe but what laying life do they have I know they start to lay early but have no idea of the length of life / laying period.

I think they lay for 2-3 years and live to 4, but whether thats under intensive laying only not too sure.
Have you found a house to move into yet?

So do you reckon:
4 females @ 4months old at £4 each = £16
2 males @11 months old at 50p each = £1
3 females @ 11 months old at 60p each = £1.80
I would prefer to sell them either as a whole lot or
4 youngesters with 1 male and
3 older ones with another males
Would that seem ok like that?
I'm thinking of a clear out now, and re-stock next spring, purely because i'd like to put my rabbits (at least the older fogey one) indoor for winter, but my other shed i'd like to use for wood... and the quails wont lay over winter unless i put lighting up there and there isnt anyway of doing that... so though this be the best way.
Tavascarow will you have some hatching eggs next spring (march/april)?

3 years is about the max for hens.
I keep mine under light so driven apart from a break over Christmas/New year.
They might live a bit longer if kept less intensively but everything I've read says 3 is about the oldest.
