What to Knit on Holiday

- One week;
- Don't mind buying new yarn (any excuse);
- Slow (and a slow knitter Wink);
- A beginner, only just happy with basic cabling and lace stitches;
- Something gifty probably, for the thingmas stash.

Any ideas? I want to do a fair bit of reading too, so something that will take less than a week would be ideal.

Something I can knit without having to think toooo much about would be a bonus.

Any ideas?

What about something from here?

I took a teacosy pattern with me. Only the pattern was wrong, and it kept me very quiet all week knitting and frogging, knitting and frogging. Finally decided to make it up myself and it is now ready for fulling.

what about a one row lace scarf, the sort with just two or three stitches repeated over and over again?

I've already got one of those in-progress, perhaps I ought to take it and finish it!

Yummersetter, I might have lost a little weight, but not quite enough to be seen out in a bikini, private pool or not Wink

A hammock (someone really did, on Ravelry)
An hourglass sweater (really pretty, and dead simple - all on circulars, so no purl and no sewing up. It will help you learn to knit and read, which is an awful lot easier than it sounds)
A fabulous blanket knitted in tesselating fishes
The gathered pullover (I haven't mastered cables, yet though)
A christmas stocking to hand on the mantlepiece

All of the above (and quite a lot more) are in my queue if you want to see patterns.

I have to finish the stripey camping jumper, so that's my car knitting for our trip this weekend (even though I'm dying to start the gathered pullover or the whisper cardigan)
