can anyone recommend a reliable, reasonably priced one for next day deliveries?
Calli

is it home deliveries? City Link

high value premium - APC
pookie

home deliveries, thanks I'll check them out Wink

Eta- City Link have a minimum of £50 per week commitment Sad
dpack

fastways seem efficient and good pricing
maybe best to use second choice for areas not on their cover
vegplot

We use City Link and not heard of their £50 min commitment.

oh that's odd, this is the link to the wording on their site. I just clicked the 'become a customer' link Confused

How odd. There are a number of businesses in this building and I wonder if that's a mitigating circumstance.
pookie

Hmm it does say 'at present' Confused

pookie is not in their area though, so she wouldn't be able to get them picked up, although they are conntinually increasing their coverage.

Bum. We've been using them for a while, just the odd package every now and again. I suspect that clause wasn't in place when we signed up.

Finding reasonable couriers in this area is very difficult. None have bases here so charges start quite high. However they all seem to haved bases in Newtown or Welshpool so this shouldn't be a problem for you. I can't recommend anyone sorry but just work through your local phone book?
joy123

We use parcel force 24 and they are very reliable and efficient
pookie

well I found a courier, and now am nervously waiting for them to collect. My slot is 2-5pm and it's just gone 4 (is there a nail-biting emoticon?) Watch this space!

Confused
lettucewoman

did they arrive??
pookie

yay! they've just collected.

Just realised that I have now to agonise over whether they will arrive Embarassed

I will report back and name them publicly when they've completed the job! So far I'm most impressed! Very Happy

Sorting a "good" courier can be a pain.

You need
a good local driver for pick ups
But then also need a good driver in every area you send to.

In the end EVERY courier WILL let you down. Its a numbers game. Dont make promises to customers that your courier might not keep.

That never stops, no matter how good your courier, so get used to it. Laughing

Thank you for that, Pookie - gives me a few more options on my eBay stuff.
pookie

It was really reasonable too I thought. £7.99 for up to 20KG parcel. The guy was really nice on the phone too.

I am needing to send stuff ( vine cuttings) to Ukraine and Denmark - does anyone have any experience of couriers to outside UK ? (From Herefordshire pick up )
thanks !
Lorrainelovesplants

I will have to enquire if I can use these to send my pulley racks. Laughing

I worked in the courier business in the UK for quite a long time before coming to live here, not going to recommend anyone - my experience is a bit out of date Smile , but don't forget the obvious, you can help by making sure the address is correctly spelt, clearly printed etc and with a contact telephone number as well as the address. If the driver has got 80 - 100 drops to do the last thing you need is an incomprehensible address in an unreadable scrawl - they are the ones that get left till tomorrow - been there / done that!
Most big companies DHL / TNT etc do international deliveries, and will usually collect along with UK parcels - usually need extra paperwork though.
