Wild marjoramEncountered wild marjoram in North Cambridge on Sunday. Never found it wild before. Dunno whether its nationally rare or not (is it?) but it isn't common here. As it was a superbly good patch, we did help ourselves to a little of it (it ain't protected, so that oughtn't be a problem).
Have I just been walking around missing it? Is it reasonably common in some of the habitats I don't look at so often like, say, chalk grasslands?
Oh, and its very tasty...

I have found loads when I've been out and about in Dorset.

It grows all over the place round here, fields of it growing with several other herbs such as salad burnet. Both also grow all over our garden and are full of bees at this time of year. We've found it's not as strong as cultivated plants in cooking though.

It's a common chalk-downland wild herb along with burnet and thyme in this area.
