Wilfully ignorant idiots. Is calling for a cull too harsh?
http://www.iflscience.com/environment/solar-farm-rejected-over-fears-it-could-drain-sun-cause-cancer
That's, a retired science teacher worrying solar panels will cause cancer and another resident worrying they'll suck up all the sun's energy.
People are that stupid? Wow.

They're just being sensible. That science teacher probably doesn't believe in evolution...

Wow! That is amazing. Faith schools really should be outlawed. I dread to think what kind of education all the muslim schools round here provide.

Round here the dead right on can send their children to a Steiner Free School with a decidedly National Socialist racial ideology..............

Thinking though about Trump's latest outburst, what is it about the USA?
(I was going to be rather rude but decided not)

Oh, the states has its fair share of geniuses, too.

Not all faith schools used to be bad. I went to a C of E junior school, and we did science after a fashion, but also learnt that various things like the creation can be tied in with real science. That PACE thing looks like total rubbish though. How do they get that past Ofsted?
I assume that nobody from these schools goes on to study science at university.

Damn internet fact checkers ruining everyone's fun on the internet
http://thehigherlearning.com/2015/12/14/fact-check-small-town-rejects-solar-farm-because-it-would-suck-up-all-the-suns-energy/
Quote: |
But if the town council’s decision wasn’t about sun-sucking, cancer-causing solar panels, what were the real motivations for voting against the proposal? The answer lies in another section of the Roanoke-Chowan article:
The town would not benefit, from a tax base standpoint, from the solar farms because they are not located within the town limits, but only in the extraterritorial sections.
The only funding the town would get is approximately $7,000 per year for specialized training for the Woodland Fire Department in the event of an electrical malfunction at the solar plant.
Of course, discussing the financial details of the decision takes away from the whole, ‘ignorant people rejecting clean energy for crazy reasons’ narrative — which is probably why everyone who covered the story chose to leave that part out. |

As you say Slim, why ruin a good story with facts. No doubt there were locals who said that sort of thing, there always are some, but that appears not to have been the reason the council rejected it.
