Windows Live MailHi all, my main email account comes to my Windows Live Mail account. Usually I operate online, but today I decided to go offline to avoid those annoying windows telling me I had failed to download emails when I was not connected to the internet. All well and good.
Come the time to go back online, I clicked the button, a popup window asked if I wanted to go online, I clicked yes, and voila - nothing. Zip Nada nowt.
So currently I do not have an email account to all intents and purposes. I went to the Windows Help website which is useless as a box of chocolates on a hot beach and so am no further ahead (though I got to vent my opinion of them in an online survey).
So if anyone can suggest ways of getting the 'go online' button to do what it says on the box, I would really appreciate your help!! I am trying to send an urgent document> At this rate I will bung it on a memory stick and drive into town to deliver it - it will be faster.
To add insult to injury it keeps sending me a popup box asking if I am ready to go back online again, but clicking that fails to elicit a response also.

Is this through a smart phone?
Hotmail/Live has really gone downhill since it moved to Outlook. I switched over to Gmail because it's like how Hotmail used to be.

And how do you find it VP?
I moved because I found it slow or unresponsive or sometimes it wouldn't even load. And now they are removing account linking. Surely a step backwards.

No, it on my lappy. Nothing to do with Hotmail either. It is the email address provided by my ISP. Windows Live Mail is the vehicle for receiving this as I refuse to pay for email software from Microsoft.
I am operating in Windows 7 if that makes a difference
Things I have tried so far:
Logging off and on several times
Clicking the 'go online button'
clicking yes on the popup window that asks me if I want to go online
Going to the website that alleges it will provide help (it doesn't).

So are you doing through your browser or an email client installed on your laptop?

Some suggestions found on the Interweb...
1. Click Start button (Circle button with a Windows logo it).
2. Click Control Panel.
3. Click Programs.
4. Click Programs and Features.
5. Search for Windows Live Essentials then double click it.
6. Click Repair all Windows Live programs.
Quote: | I had a similar problem where I was stuck working offline and it wouldn't allow me to get back to working online.
I did a simple System Restore to a couple of days previously when I knew everything had been working as it should and 'bingo!' it worked perfectly. |
Use something other than Windows Live Mail.
