Wingnuts

I recently became the proud owner of this. (Thanks again Richard)

As you can see there are a couple of wingnuts missing, but it seems that they are a non-standard size (imperial?) M6 is the nearest size in our hardware store and it's a tad too small. Any suggestions as to what might be the equivalent imperial size and where I could get them from? Or what size nut I could try?
vanessa

If it's a coarse thread, it'll be 1/4" Witworth. If it's a fine thread, it'll be 1/4" BSF.

If it's a similar thread to M6, it'll be BSF.

That's from my turner-miller hubby Wink Useful chap at times!!

As for where to find ... what part of the country are you in? Probably an old-fashioned hardware store.
Jamanda

Thank you Vanessa's hubby Very Happy

I wonder if Screwfix will sell them?
vanessa

Highly unlikely they'll do anything imperial other than tap fittings.

Try http://www.namrick.co.uk/browse.asp?PCID=4 ... might be able to help you, probably not wing-nuts, but at least nuts to go on your bolts ...

Good luck Wink
alice

Could you replace the nut and the bolt for a matched pair, nearest size to the original?
sean

The feet are held on with wing nuts too. So I reckon I can use those for the side bits, then screw up through the feet into the legs. Sorted. Smile
Jamanda

The bolts are fixed into the frame. Sean think he might be able pinch the ones from the bottom and do something cunning.
Frewen

I have an old frame - which is probably imperial

I'm unlikely to use it - shall I send it via the Howemobile?
sean

Thanks but I think I can fix this one. Unless of course Jamanda wants to be able to display a couple of uncompleted projects at a time. Wink

That's really pretty (not biased about the alpaca, at all. No, not me!) I might have to have a go at that during the winter.

works well on woven wool cloth too, we 'embroidered' a couple of cloaks really fast with quite complex patterns once using needlefelt. was really effective
