Would you use this pub?

The beer is local, real ale and others from micro and local breweries, likewise the cider; bottled local "country"/fruit wines; organic fruit juices and soft drinks.
Food is all seasonal, local, organic where possible, from small producers, menu changing daily; good vegetarian and vegan selections; Fair Trade where possible.
Prices to reflect quality.
Entertainment - skittle alley with stage for local bands, musicians and entertainers of all sorts, doubles as function room for parties, beer festivals, etc. Occasional local music live in the bar at weekends.
Beer garden outside, used for outside functions in summer; organic herb garden to serve kitchen, wildlife borders, native trees and flowers.; veg and fruit grown/greenhouse/polytunnel if room.
Newsletters to locals to tell them of events in pub; internet access/DVD library etc according to local wishes.
Local staff employed.
All cleaning materials and supplies as environmentally sound as possible; possible use of solar panels, and switch to green electricity supplier.
All sorts of local customs and festivals observed, plus solstices, etc, local Morris side, etc.
Small discount on food if you walk/cycle/horse etc to the pub.
Some sort of green-inspired loyalty scheme possibly.
If room, good quality B&B.

Good point, have edited it, thanks.
bagpuss

where is this pub and who owns it, it would be exactly the sort of business we want to help here on downsizer
Helen_A

Yes - if it was near enough to be a short yomp...

Actually sounds like my dream pub... the sort I'd want to run. (but DP not so keen on the idea... oh well, am going to do the licenses anyway Very Happy )

Brits being Brits, you'll get a few who'll pop their bikes on the back of their 4x4s and cycle a quarter of a mile in order to claim the discount - ooh, sorry, that's soooo cynical Rolling Eyes .

Sounds lovely, though very niche-market. Can mine have a thatched roof please? Very Happy
Jon

not thinking of buying the place over the road are you Sarah Smile
Sarah D

Can't - that's a Hell and Whorehouse pub. Laughing Laughing Laughing

So it gets closer on the way back then? Wink
Barefoot Andrew

Sounds like a rhetorical question to me...

Nope, they have Morris dancers.

Feel free to add whores to the list.
Treacodactyl

Looks good if I can walk to it, a pint of best please. Wink One thing with real ales, I've been to a few pubs that make the mistake of having too many on the go at once meaning some are past their best. Any room to have your own micro-brewery?
Sarah D

Possibly.........

Morris Dancers may be optional. No to the whores, though......... Laughing Laughing Laughing That's the local name for Hall & Woodhouse.
jamanda

Sounds good. Why do you ask?
alison

Sounds lovely.

Is ther a green loyalty scheeme, nationally, or just one the pub offers on their own.
RichardW

Sorry but 95% (made up number) of the population wont give a monkeys about the green issues unless it means the pint costs more.

Sounds idyllic - it's not "The Moon Under Water" is it?

I expect that's quite true although some parts of the country I expect more people would care. However, it would make a very good angle to get plenty of publicity and reviews by the local press.
mochyn

Can we come too? But, of course, only if it's here...
dougal

Sorry Sarah D, but without adequate parking and simple directions from the motorway, it'd be a bit of a struggle to make a go of a pub like that!

And what are the Barmaids like?
Sarah D

Thankyou everyone for your input. Yes, even you Dougal Laughing Laughing Laughing
