Yurt vs Static

DH and I are thinking about where to live in the future - at the moment we rent a house in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales.

I would like to live in a Yurt.
DH would like to live in a static caravan.

Does anybody have any experience of either?

We lived in a static caravan for nearly two years - it was fine and pretty civilized. I think a yurt would be fun for a while - but I'm sure I would tire of it. Why not try out both for a short break and see?

By the way - we've got a static caravan to give away...not that I'm trying to influence you in any way. Wink

Having demolished a static caravan (not a particularly old one either) and having seen the state of the wiring, i would have to be bribed extremelly heavily to sleep in one again out of choice!

What a question. I suppose much depends on the price of either. I know that you can get big static caravans or mobile homes for almost nothing if you have some land to plonk them on. And a big static would give you about 400 sq feet of space. I don't know if a yurt would give you as much space as that. And yurts are pretty expensive.
That said, I'm a big yurt fan. Good luck with your choice.

What a dilemma. A static seems a practical option but a yurt is a much more romantic idea. Follow your heart and hope the OH follows on behind Laughing
