Costs very impressive, the interior is good, not sure about the exterior appearance.

Of course it's possible to build a house yourself reasonably cheaply. BUT not if the land costs a fortune. In Ireland you might be able to buy land for not a lot but can you find work there. In Buckinghamshire for example you might be able to find work but no land to buy at a half way decent price.

We weren't allowed to use corrugated iron or similar otherwise I would have.

The Kiwi's do some fascinating Corrugated Iron buildings

Noisy if it rains though!
