I'm tempted to submit work this year (for the first time) to the RE Open, International Contemporary Printmaking Exhibition.
It's not a paltry fee at £25 (non-refundable if not selected) but that's for up to 6 pieces AND if they're chosen, the'd be shown in Bankside for a couple of weeks mid Aug to beginning Sept, which would be pretty exciting.
My dithery'ness is down to whether my subject matter is too Welsh/not avant-garde enough and I would simply be throwing £25 down the drain.
Unfortunately, the judging panel won't enter into any discussion if work isn't accepted, which is a bit unfair I think.
I guess I've just got to give it a go really haven't I?

I'll stump the £25. If you get in, I want a single print. If you don't, I lose.

Thanks for the encouragement folks.
I'll be choosing which to submit within the next few days or so.

Definitely - you have to speculate to accumulate, as they say and £25 is worth the gamble. I suspect that if you get your prints through the selection process you would find a ready market for them in London (Bankside IS London?). |
