BA and I were watching old episodes of Doc Martin last night. Is it sad that I was eyeing up Aunty Joan's singer in the back of her living room?

I don't have one and both of my brothers are broken. One is past redemption and the other can be fixed with servicing.
I *need* a singer!

Can look out for one for you - they appear regularly at out tip/recycling centre for a couple of pounds. The ones not sold are picked up , sorted and serviced by TFSR or similar and shipped off to Africa.

You can use mine that is at yours (old place) if you like?

It's a Jones rather than a singer but happy for you to use it.

(apparently one can only use one machine at a time)

Hmm, I am struggling with the upper tension knob on a Made in USSR Jones. When are you visiting?

Can you post me a picture? Oh and I think I might have some Jones bits for you

If it's a dial thing then typically you can unscrew and clean (making sure everything goes off and back on in the right order and direction)

I will clean it and put it back togeterh again first. I was too tired to try a few days ago.

(I've got another one that isn't working coming to me this weekend. Hoping to get it going and get my neighbours young daughter playing with it. You seem to have passed on some kind of infection to me. I seem to be doing more of this than actually sewing at the moment.)

Ahem - sorry about that - there aren't any shots you can get for this sort of affliction either

Have you been dragged kicking and screaming into meadowhell yet Nell?

My eldest forced me to accompany him there, I still shudder at the thought, anyhow don't ask me the name of the store and they're probably countrywide but one has a window display of nothing but hand-cranked singer sewing machines, fascinating to view there are so many variations, apparently its not the done thing to stand around admiring them, mum, rather one should be admiring the merchandise
