I hope you're going to film the demolition.

Never did film the demolition, Richard just pushed it over with his fork lift

In our old house (about 1/2 the size of the new one) we'd have spent at least £2500 on oil plus calor gas for cooking. In the new house we've spent less than a grand on calor gas since September 2012 (when the heating was fired up), this includes heating and cooking (including a few big parties and several hundred jars of jam). Chuffed so far

Well that's a relief. It would have been a bit rubbish if you hated it after all that.

Intentionally

He thought he'd have to hire some machinery but it just needed a good push to fall over

Hadn't seen this thread till now, just worked my way through it all. Looks stunning mate. Last time I was aware of this was when you asked me if I could supply vast quantities of Ash timber planks for flooring in about 2004/5.

I'd love to have another go but next time on a much smaller budget, just to prove to myself you can build something great for an affordable price

We managed to end up with a lot of English timber in the house, mostly from Essex but some from lincs. I'm guessing you don't have the woodland anymore?

When I say this I mean built by a builder, not self built. I've seen some great self built houses that have cost next to nothing as long as you don't factor labour in
