I've just been to download GIMP, but it seems that it requires Service Pack 3 for Windows XP, and as previously discussed, I don't really want SP3.

Any suggestions?

You mean ideas for alternative graphics packages or for a way to get around it being fussy?

Not sure I can help, but thought it might prompt others!

A drastic solution would be a dual boot / Wubi install of Ubuntu on your computer and run Gimp on there, but I don't know how easy ot would be moving files around etc.

I have been meaning to make the machine dual boot, and Linux can access all the Windows files easily enough.
But I expect that if I look hard enough, I will find an older version of Gimp lying around somewhere...
