Here in La belle France they sell special green plasterboard for wet areas.
Does anyone know if it is any better than standard board?
It is going to stuck with 'map' onto block walls, rather than stud walling.
thank you in eager antisipation

im not familiar with it, i would use waterproof plywood for such a job.

if it says for wet areas on the specs i suspect it is the plaster based version of the plywood method and if it is cheaper than ply i would go for it.

if it is similar to this it looks like a good product if used properly (edges sealed, tiled in splashy places etc ).

It does the job very well....it's reinforced with a fibre (possibly fibreglass ?)

Built loads of showers & kitchens using it, but rooms still should be ventilated

Is it cheaper than plastering the block walls or just quicker?

If glued "properly" it produces a surface that resists humidity & is ready to tile, paint etc

Quicker in that you don't wait for plaster to dry, & the surface is flat

Can be cheaper, time-wise, if you like

Thanks all. we went to look today but the heavens opened and we had an open trailer so we brought 2 shower cubicle instead!
A bargain, distracted by the children running amok i didn't notice till we got home they only charged me for one!
I spend a fortune there so don't feel too guilty

If it was me, I would go back and pay for the other, but up to you. Are you going to tile on top of the plasterboard?
