What kind of frogs is it that the French eat? Is it the same as the little greeny guys we see hanging around ponds? Is it another kind of frog entirely?

Of all of the animals I see, the one I most suspect I could never harm would be a frog. Great little creatures. But I am curious...

I think there is an 'edible' frog, with meatier thighs than rana temperaria, but I could be wrong.

Yep, Edible Frog (Rana esculenta) can be up to 12cm with green and black stripes down its back. Accoriding to my book they may be found in Norfolk.

You can also get Marsh Frogs (Rana ridibunda) and pool frogs (?).

I think our frogs round here are common frogs but they vary in colour a fair bit.

Hearing how much damage is done around the world by taking frogs from the wild I think this is one animal I'll leave alone. I've seen a few frogs in our ponds already this year, so hopefully we'll have some more spawn.
