Had to take a sickle up the mountain with us to clear a path through the bracken, but sure enough, the bilberries were just about perfect. I can see us making Red Mist again this year.... (Red Mist, Make one bottle of Bilberry liqueur, and one bottle of honey liqueur. Pour together slowly for a double layer effect, sharp and sweet, gold and blood red drink that is bad for your waistline but good for the soul )

Also picked a few blackberries, but they are pretty yuk around here just now, also got a new axe handle from a recent fallen tree.

Don't get many bilberries in lowland East Anglia

But I do have some seeds... Any idea how I might best achieve germination?

Do bilberries have another name? Himself thinks I made them up, and they don't really exist, but I can't find them in any of my plant encyclopedias to prove him wrong.

And is a worcesterberry the same as jostaberry? He doesn't beleive me about that either (even though we had them for dessert on Saturday!)

Dozens of bames. Blaeberries, whortleberry... Loads of names. Vaccinium myrtilus is the scientific name.

Hmm, not really sure but they do like an acid soil. I'm trying to root a cutting from ours at teh moment, dunno yet how well it will take, though it did have a mini rootlet so I'm hopeful.

They really are my very favouritest fruit
