I have a 6 year old boy who is very happy to provide compost peeing services

He counts it as one of his chores - even though he needs to stand on a bucket to reach the top of the plastic thingy one.

Should I train the dog to pee at a corner of the other heap as well?

Lid off the bin, pee in bin, lid back on... Why isn't that practical for a small house?

A squatter on your compost, either doing you a favour or looking for a new home.

Himself pees in a container in the shed during the day because he works out there all day anyway.
I'm afraid the compost heaps just have to manage without mine

I meant the composting loo, rather than a bucket in the bathroom. It's not practical because there's no room in the bathroom for much other than toilet, sink, bath. I've been looking at it, and something could fit under the sink at a push.

Alison's suggestion of using a milk bottle seems like a practical solution if you haven't room for a bucket, or you could buy a proper portable urinal.

I only use my bucket at night once a week or so, and I stand it in the bath when it has pee in it (don't fancy clearing up if I accidentally kick it over in the dark!). Then I nip down the garden and pour it over the compost first thing in the morning. I think "night water" is supposed to be best as it's more concentrated.

You need a gazunder (except, if your house is anything like mine, there is no room under the bed) I wish I could pursuade the dogs to pee on the compost. They don't care who's watching!

I could probably supply several compost bins at the moment!

When we had allotments and the only "arrangement" was a bucket in the shed the blackcurrants got alot of nitrogen--now the veg garden is next to the house I'm afraid we are wasting a natural resource.

I'm coming to the end of reading the humanure handbook. Before I just peed outside but now I shall try to use a sawdust filled bucket in the house and then empty that onto the compost.

If I empty to chicken bedding onto the compost (which is mainly woodshavings) and pee seperately, would it work just as well?)
