Slightly boring vid = but I like the idea that on one day everyone can do something together. Like the Turn off the lights day...

Might be something nice to do for Transition Groups, school groups, any social group in villages and towns really : )

If you prefer to take inspiration from real people rather than animated ones, here's a message from the Maldivian President. Is that the same Maldives whose economy is so dependent on tourism? Guess they'd better start building high-speed rail links to the rest of the world...

I'm no climate sceptic myself, but I did find this intriguing:
Despite popular opinion and calls to action the Maldives are not being overrun by sea-level rise.

More about the study's author, Nils-Axel Mörner here

This lot did a performance about climate change at the Plough Arts centre (which by all accounts was very good.) They also asked the Chair of the Commons Conservators Committee on which I sit if they could have an outdoor event on the commons which would involve 350 people and a giant inflatable giraffe. Although we were some what bemused we granted permission.
A day or two later Sean mentioned that they were holding this event with a blow-up Earth. Eventually I worked out that the inflatable "giraffe" was in fact a "Gaia Earth" filtered through the ears of a slightly deaf old gentleman.

(In the event it was too windy and they couldn't get it up)

I find that's the problem with most activists.

A common trait of deaf old gentlemen, as I'm finding to my cost!

I find it most disconcerting that I seem to share a sense of humour with Gervase. Maybe that's why Mary-Jane tut-tut's at my posts so frequently.
