This christmas will be the all new christmas decorations year. due to circumstance last year I put the tree decs away a little "violently". I had been collecting decorations over the year to remind my of special occasions and for one reason or another I don't want to use some of them again. soooo
I want to make some special ones to start again.
so far I have croched a white heart...
any ideas please?

Decorations for you or for the wee two? I would like a really tasteful single colour theme thing with the decs, however Boy Wonder firmly believes that more is more. So that's what we do.

the old one used to be a real hotch potch. just simple "pea lights" (hey arvo! look) and then a multitude of curios. some tacky....
a frosted apple from New York, hand painted named and dated ones. to some maltees glass and antique china. It was facinating to look at. almost every one had a story of memory attatched. It ended up looking very victorian.

But make sure they are above puppy height. Chocs aren't good for dogs.

Little circles of wire with beads threaded on, faux pearls look nice. Baby alder cones dusted with cake luster powder (comes in a range of colours).
Little bows, simply tied on the branches.

I'll keep thinking.....

if you had forever and a day you could thread popcorn, and dye it with food dye.

but bows always look attractive, the boys when they were small used to like making christmas bells, washed out yoghurt pots (that are bell shaped upside down) decorated in wrapping paper, sequins, tinsel and glitter. They made felt miniture stockings and santas too

I like the homemade decorations the kids make best.

we used to make little silver bells by pressing milk bottle tops over the top of a glass lemon juicer -

forgot about that until now must remember to save the bottle tops

I did suggest we make Violet a little halo and have her perch up there to the children. They said it was a silly idea

Ask everyone you love to make or give you something to hang on your new tree as their Christmas present to you?

I'm undecided about a tree this year. Son and betrothed will come, but I think will excuse me if I just bring in alternative greenery. Self-seeded holly looks good round the picture-frames and in the hearth, then can later be used to deter cats.

But then, at the last minute I might get silly and buy a tree and drag out the lights and decorations.
