Dogfish have a very bad press!
Everybody seems to hate them, but catch hundreds of them.
In London they eat them as rock salmon.
Although sods to prepare, I think it's time they had a gastronomic review (some seafood spin-doctoring here I think).
Any thoughts? |

I'll try most food things once, especially if I catch or forage it and I can identify it.
Being a little more descriptive, what does it taste like? |

Isn't poo descriptive enough? I've only had it once in a chippy and it was white tasteless and a bit mushy |

There are several answers to that. 'What poo are you thinking about, 'cos they all taste different' is one.
If my mother was here he would be telling everyone how I fell face first in a load of pig manure when I was a nipper.
Like many things it could be the way it's cooked. They were saying how good pollock is, but my old fishing books say it's poor compared to cod as the fish deteriorates quickly. Dogfish could be nice straight from the sea, skinned with a pair of pliers and BBQed with some 'erbs.
Or it could still taste like poo. |

Ok! I can't confess to being a conissoiur of poo. I just don't like dogfish or 'Huss'. I asked my mum she quite likes it although she hasn't eaten it for a while and would have it in batter with of course chips. She said its easy to prepare as it has central bone which is easy to remove.
I expect that barbied in the beach with herbs would improve it but I'd rather have something else.
I grew up in various fishing ports and ate a lot of fish I would imagine that I have eaten it in some form that I would have liked but for choice I would go for Halibut .
