Cream soda is an occasional 'treat', if you can call it that. Now that I've got all these vanilla pods, is there any way I can make my own ? I'm thinking some kind of vanilla cordial that can be diluted with sparkling water. Anyone tried it, or got a recipe, please ?

Dunno, but I got some vanilla vodka going at the weekend. Add some soda water and it'll be cream soda vodka. Double treat!

What a good idea. When I was little we used to make cream soda by pouring lemonade over vanilla ice cream. I though that's what the stuff in cans was meant to be like, but I could be mis-brought up.

Would that be an 'ice cream soda', WW ? I remember trying that too, but it wasn't that nice. I'm trying to think now whether cream soda has a lemony tang to it as well as the vanilla. I've got vanilla brandy on the go to make vanilla essence, but it's got no sugar in it, and I'd like to make a non-alcoholic drink with vanilla as well.

If you can find some dried sour cherries and make sour cherry vodka, the combination of cherry-vanilla vodka with, maybe, a dab of lemonade, is the most dangerously drinkable concoction I've ever encountered...

I used to like cream soda - not had any in years. I used to like that pink sherbety stuff that went by the same name too.
