can you make bread in a microwave? If so, how long do i need to cook it for? Looking at a wholemeal 2lb loaf. Thanks.

The recipe I have is for 1lb loaves and it's 3 and a half minutes on 750w. It's edible but that's about the best that can be said about it!

Oh, I don't know. I used to find it quite useful to make "half baked" bread in the microwave when I needed to fill spaces in the freezer. Then when I needed a loaf I'd allow it to thaw and finish it off in the proper oven. From memory I shortened the cooking time recommended in the microwave cookery book.

have you got a pressure cooker? If you're looking for quick bread, this is a much better way to go. It's like a steam oven, so the rise is un-impeded. No crust however.
