I get rid of stuff like that by putting it in a compost bag (of the black, light proof variety), tie it up and leave for a season. When preparing a trench, say for potatoes, October onwards, in it go ... |

If it was long strips,with a short looped look to it it's a hooky mat, if it used short strips and had a tufted finish, its a a proggy.
