Oh!!! Congratulations WW! What lovely news!

Hey, is someone going to start a thread on Downsizing for Baby? The "Baby Industry" insists that you need a whole load of carp for a tiny infant. I'm sure we can put together a list of what's truly necessary!

Some of my friends with asthma have reported that the mild immuno-suppressive effect of pregnancy reduced their asthma symptoms. I hope it's true in your case!

Totally outside the swine flu thread, but I certainly second this suggestion. Not only would it take care of the needs of prospective parents/grandparents with some hands-on advice, but the possibilities of pictures would be there as well. I would love to see the contributions from young parents with a lot of experience and knowlwdge!

Certainly a good idea for an article here.

Deffo, we didn't use anything really, despite all the stuff thrown at us.

I used an incubator, SCBU and rather a lot of expensive kit for the first two months, so I was rather upsized. But it would be good if someone could maybe collate some ideas. Any volunteers? Actually this could do with a new thread couldn't it. Shall I try to be clever and split it?

Cor Blimey it worked!

Sadly not. It's not too bad though - I mostly get asthma in the summer as a hayfever side effect, so at least that won't be a problem!

My ex neighbours remortgaged their house to 'pay for the baby'...I wondered what it was it needed so badly?

We bought hardly anything new. Freecycle was great and people we hardly new were extraordinarily kind.

That one is easy to answer. Spend a few hours shopping in one of the large centers or in Toys R Us.

Hopefully people who have been through the hassle have a few things to ocntribute? What about exchanging baby stuff as well as advice? That would be a lovely way to downsize

What is necessary usually depends on the parent, what sort of parenting you want to do. I have used 3 types of baby carriers costing a lot more than the buggy I bought for a tenner at a car boot sale.

We'd be interested in learning about modern reusable nappies, apparently they're not the horror our parents experienced
