Organic John is organising a mini meet/potato planting day at his place in Laxton, anybody interested? Sounds like good fun and you get free potatoes too Please post here if you're interested, obviously John will be able to show you around his smallholding too, a good chance to see a working smallholding.

We are based in South Yorkshire - I'll need to speak to Lundy, if we are free I would like to try and get along - nice to meet people and to help our mates as well. Any ideas when?

I know I'm a newbie and its a bit cheekie but I'm in South Shropshire within striking distance of west midlands, hereford, worcs & powys. Would anyone like a local meet here? We are a mixed smallholding. I could set up a barter table in the barns.

Bloomin 'eck Downsizer meets are happening everywhere I think the more meets the better.

When are you planning it for John.....we could come on the motorbike if the weather was OK...we often go to Peterborough to the BMF show.

We work during the week and some weekend dates are already allocated, but as I said John if we can help out we will - it will be good experience and the opportunity to meet up with our downsizer mates.

I could easily make it to yours...don't know how much help I'd be with a small person in tow though. I'd have to either bring of find at home a willing (and understanding) sitter or just watch you guys at it! How would that work out with your place OJohn-I mean would you be cool with a 2 1/2 yr old at your place? (would not be at all offended if you said you'd rather not - promise!)

children are wellcome as long as they are kept under controle at they ned of the day they should be alowed the chance to see what farming is all about at what ever age

i have a at your own risk policy here due to the old farming methods the machinery did not have to pass safty tests like it dose today some of the machinery will kill you so do use commonsence and awairness

hope that hasnt put any of you off hey im not dead yet and i do the dangerus stuff every day
