Yup, haven't tried one though, there's a HTPC section on the avplus forum which you'll probably find interesting, can't find the link right now though

Look at the reviews, a poor product ebuyer list quite a few of these cards, but you really have to set aside a PC just for recording programs. SCSI would clearly help, but res will still be poor

after reading the reviews (which I should have done before posting this ) I don't think I'll bother

Ive got a capture card for mine(Aver DVD EZmaker) which fits in a PCI slot.I got it for putting our VCR tapes onto VCD and it works very well.
It also lets you watch TV through the Video player.The VCR acts as the TV Tuner. I think the card was about £40. You can download programs to capture video(or watch whats on the VCR ie TV channels) from the Web, a good site is https://www.videohelp.com/ which has excellent advice aswell as downloads and directions.

I still get the impression that a lot of this is "Bleeding edge" technology, partially as you still have to rely in windoze which is a crap place to start if you are look for the relibaility of a normal domestic appliance.
