Winter Chanterelles are living up to their name. After the snow melted I went out at the weekend and there were still loads. The best finds have been those that have been hidden by braken or a bush/tree. I guess that this gave a certain amount of protection from the snow. Still, amazing that they survived. Also noticed quite a few small ones coming up too.

Thanks guys!
Mind you, it's been disappointing for Wood Blewits down this way so far. I got a few just before the cold weather came in but since then nothing. In previous years I have picked these until March.
I also don't have much luck with velvet shanks. I find a handful here and there but I have to look hard for this.
Another mushroom that I have seen in numbers in the middle of winter are Oyster mushrooms. Haven't found any yet but you never know.
Oh... also spotted the first showing of three cornered leak, a herb that I do really enjoy.
