there is a risk of frost over the next two nights - certainly in central England - check your area.

Many may have been enticed by long spell of hot weather to plant out early. If you have then get out with fleece or polythene or something to protect your plantings!

Tonight may have frost but at the moment tomorrows looks much much deeper ! Be ready!

Thanks for posting that, Mark.

I hadn't looked at the forecast for night temps - am still digging/weeding. But the nights have been clear and starry - frost all too likely.

Just looked - yes, -1 tonight here, and lower still tomorrow. Frost.

yeah there shoulld not be frost in Devon.

Hpwever some forecasts give 3 C in Exeter overnight tonight which is theoretically light enough for ground frost - I think this is very unlikely

But remember the temp for Ground frost is 4C overnight.

When the temp is 4C at the height of weather boxes the ground can be freezing - as the ground temp is lower at night and higher in day and usually drives the air temp - and can vary locally (bare dark soil like a plot heats faster in day and cools faster at night!

Having said that safe in Devon i think - but not in a lot of England

Our kitchen table is covered with frost tender plants at the moment. Last night here in Surrey it was cold (forecast 7°C, actual 4°C) and tonight they're forecasting 4°C so we could get a touch for frost. Hopefully the potatoes will escape too much damage and they're far too big to cover up.

was very cold and winduy here last night - horses rugged again but no actual frost as yet. Wind due to drop today so expect frost tonight - but then we are on the top of exmoor and somewhat exposed. seedlings just coming up - yes I was tempted to plant earlier than normal by the warm weather - should know better - have had snow in April here before

Like Gil, I haven't got round to putting in anything tender yet so I'm not too worried. But the temperatures dropped sharply after the sun went down for the last couple of nights.

Car windscreen was white this morning.
Last night's temp was below 0C, though here is often colder than the nearby weather station. To be colder tonight.

We're still fleecing in the greenhouse and outside. Won't be stopping until the end of this month.

Argh. Didn't think about soft fruit. Do you think I should fleece my cherries?

We noticed as we drove home from Glasgow last night just how cold it had dropped from the heat of the day 2C going down the M74 between 11 & midnight
