ok people if there eartags ripped out but have the spare ready to move them or for slaughter . so basically if there on your land not moving but have the tags at hand if inspected would you be in trouble?

If you have been informed of an inspection, tag them if you have the spares.

Sheep with missing tags are very common.
Legally you must replace missing tags within 28 days of discovery or upon the relevant sheep leaving the holding.

As TG says if you know that you are going to be inspected, then replace.

But if you had a surprise inspection, that would be the date that you noticed they were missing, and you would have 28 days from then (unless of course you tell them that you already knew!).

Inspectors are very relaxed about this as long as the tag is clearly missing (rather than never been tagged), and of course if you have spares then this is an ideal time to replace in front of them.

If you have ones missing, then unless you replace whilst they are there, you will get a form to send off to confirm that they have been replaced, but you'll not be marked as non compliant unless you don't send the form.

Reason I ask is have a few missing but in process of replacing as there going friday but friend is so say being haunted by some new council woman so say. But if you cannot catch them to replace sort of thing ( bit useless if they walk up to you) but if you couldn't catch them up easily and had them on the land in your hand so if they did visit you could say only just noticed but there's the copys of them in my shed . Sotheby could see you had them ready to go in. But also if they have ripped out multiple time's like some of ours have they have not a lot of ear left to put them in without hitting veins so would that not be a welfare issue so you wouldn't cause unesscery hurt etc would that be and issue with? After Friday all ours are gone so trays almost 10 yrs going. Be end of an era but still just need sell the kit off soon .
