Further to my post about Garden Hens in Cheshire - I was going to go back and buy hens from them now that we are (nearly) ready to start keeping chickens again.

However, might need to find somewhere else as they are not selling pullets this year.

So does anyone have any recommendations for good people to get hens from - in Lincs, Notts, Beds, Cambs, for instance?

What I am after is birds from utility strains of rare/trad breeds.

If they are giving up, you could take on one of their breeding groups ...

It did cross my mind... But for several reasons don't think I am really up to it at the moment. Partly space, partly time, partly the having to kill baby cockerels. Just getting some laying hens again feels manageable - and exciting. We'll see about something more adventurous in future!
