Your fungal is all very black at the moment. Is there any reason for this? Are you in a dark mood or is it the time of year?

Don't know the bluing bracket either. We still have beetles around; oil beetles I think, but not sure. Sgt. Colon if you want bright fungi, I found some lovely yellow ones yesterday. Haven't had a chance to identify them yet. We also have what I think is a shaggy inkcap in the yard. Lovely specimen but again, need to check it is a shaggy and not a magpie fungus. Found some common puffball (off white) too, so a bit of colour for you.

Alarge proportion of fungi are plain coloured, but here is a prettier one we found this Monday:

the Wrinkled Peach Fungus (Rhodotus palmatus)

Now that is a pretty one. We also get mauve and pink ones. I did identify the pink one, but can't remember what it was now. We have had wood blewits which are mauvy too. Scarlet elf cap is bright red of course, but haven't seen any of that yet.

OK sgt.colon I'll do my best to find at least one pretty one each week, but it will be in the lap of Mycologia, the goddess of fungi.

I can't post pictures, but yesterday found some amethyst deceivers and what I am pretty sure are hedgehog fungus. If you have pictures in your store Buzzy, they would make pretty ones for Sgt. Colon. The one we found last week is sadly no more as something like a slug ate it, but from what husband said, it was a magpie inkcap. We have seen them in the woods fairly frequently (for that species).

Thanks Dpack. Ours are quite yellowy, so a good colour for Sgt. Colon.

This week we are going for our walk tomorrow, for reasons I shall explain later, but here is a fungus from last week whose name I have just learnt. I hope it meets with your approval sgt.colon!

The Redlead Roundhead (Leratiomyces ceres) which is apparently from Australia.

Looks as if it is in its favourite habitat of shredded bark or wood. That seems to be how it has travelled so much. We just make our own sawdust, so less likely to find it, but will look out for that one.
