I forgot to say I have a massive collection of the wrong sizes of everything, screws, nails and bolts.

It is probably a number in the hundreds of thousands. I have tonnes (literally) of hardware but had to buy a box of 1000 drywall screws last week. Stainless bolts in common sizes are probably a good long term investment unless by the time our kids inherit them the metric system has been replaced by something else.

I tidied my knicker draw today and found the bolts for the cot, wrapped in a ripped A4 envelope from the council tax people. Our youngest child is nearly 8.

Why were the bolts for the cot in the knicker drawer?

I expert it was handy when it was dismantled. I have taken to putting screws or bolts for Things in an envelope or bag and then duct-taping the bag to the Thing.

I have also stopped saying "I'll remember that I put the ----- in the ----" because I never, ever do. If I don't put it away, I write down where I've put it. In my phone. Which has a search function. Which would have saved me two hours looking for my passport the other day.

he is the MOST untidy person in the universe.
leaves it where he last used it and despite expecting me to keep everything clean and tidy I get moaned at when the drill isn't on the kitchen table 2 weeks later.
oh the repressed anger.....

It was perfect. Ask anyone. Random strangers were asking BW and me for tent placement tips.

my BF suggested I let it out.
I have a digger so the evidence could be in a DEEEEEP hole.

but another wise one said I would have to tell my children what I had done so think before I act....

I will keep trying to remember the safe place for all the stuff.
and to not put screws in the box he has thrown on the floor...
I did attach all the cot screws to the frame in a plastic bag if I can just remember where I put the cot...

among the various bit n bobs collection i have a bag for "useful" nuts ,bolts ,odd bits of something etc etc that "will be useful eventually" .they often turn out to be just what i needed but usually when i notice them is some time after i bought a thing to do that job while looking for a something else i dont have in the bag

something that does seem to be "normal" for me is if i need 7 of something buying a pack of ten is the best value and often a lot cheaper than getting 7 singles which means when i then need four next time i remember how "expensive singles are and end up with 9 in waiting for a few years as im loathe to pay x for one when 2 1/2 x gets me ten

I have had that trouble with husband Woo. I really don't think leaving tools in the middle of the lounge floor and expecting them to be there in a months time when he wants to finish the job is very helpful. Then I can't remember where I put the tools, which also isn't very helpful.
