Sorry, another question.

I have ants in my greenhouse, should I get rid of them or leave them alone?

Thanks

that depends on what sort of ant they are.

they may be eating your pests or they may be farming aphids on your plants etc

do they bite? is a big criteria with me.

i normally co exist with wildlife but Argentinian ants get no mercy, they get brazing flux and icing sugar as a "treat"

approved ant powders are available but borax(as found in flux)and sugar used in focussed moderation, with consideration to reducing any by catch potential, is safe and effective

They are just small black ants DPack. They look like your common garden ones. I hope that helps?

I don't want to get rid unless they are going to affect my plants that I have in there.

Thanks

i have ants in the greenhouse, we seem to muddle along together. They can make a lot of tunnels around the roots of the tomatoes which I think isn't ideal - but they dont like water and so it seems to resolve itself. Eventually there is a day when the greenhouse is full of flying ants.. and then we dont have a problem anymore

50 or so UK types

inform ant

base future action upon actionable intel

if they are "the common garden ant" they are probably a good thing

Who knew there was so many common garden ants thanks DPack.

Thought I'd give you guys an update as to what I've been one with so far this year and pictures is always the best way. The raised beds I've created are going to be for salad stuff, a herb bed and I've let Mrs C have some for flowers. The greenhouse is now full operational.

That looks good Sgt. Colon. You have been working hard to achieve all of that. Hope the crops admire it so much they grow well for you.

My comfrey and nettle brew has been brewing for nearly a year now, am I okay to start using it? If yes, please cold you let me know what the mixture is? Is it like one cup full to a watering can?

Thanks

ace, it will be ready

i tend to dilute by colour.

weak tea colour onto wet soil suits most things

heavy feeders such as squash or cucumbers strong tea onto wet soil

little and often is better that a massive dose rarely, too much or too strong can inhibit rather than promote good growth.
