A very hot day here again yesterday and the silver washed fritillaries and ringlets were very much in evidence along the ride in the woods. I haven't had a chance to go out into the coppice coup, but think that might be full of butterflies at the moment.
mr brack has been very busy shopping
plenty of fledged sparrows and some still nested
towny pigeons, not quite learning manners but improving
woodies fine
oops, i was doing shower hosepipe hung in the bramble, young sparrow made an unfortunate choice of landing twig about 6 inches under it
it was fine if a little surprised

Four quill pigs dispatched so far, kale decimated again night before last and trap ignored. Hoping to located #5 soon, so that we may have hopes of continuing to eat the greens of my labors
in birdtown there are quite a few sparrows, not as many as last year
the bracks are feeding the 3rd clutch, first one fledged and was missing after a few days, second two are doing well and dine here, mr b has been very busy shopping, mrs b pops in for a snack and a drink
the 2 woodies are regulars and sometimes another one is repelled
the townie pigeons have increased to half a dozen or so, they are quite rough and require security staff to curb their less pleasant tendencies
funny cross species interaction, the bracks and sparrows are good neighbours but the just fledged sparrow asking mrs brack for her beakful of mealworms got a look that paddington would have been proud of
a very sweet moment to see
i recon i am correct re brack fledglings, mrs b came shopping and set off over the alley, she went between the houses and was heading for the back gardens on the other side of the posh Cul de Sac
townie pigeon "fashion" is rather interesting, some do dazzle pattern cammo better than others
one of them is invisible in plain sight
Nice picture. Good news on the Sammison front, and nice to hear the latest birdtown news.
I seem to have a new robin friend 'down the garden'. It is a young one just starting to develop a red breast, and a I was digging over a plot, it was after anything interesting I turned up. It is quite tame, and sat on a branch later while I talked to it. No reply yet, but I have had them chatter back to me.
