A view from the new pit which is getting bigger by the day. I need to wheelbarrow quite a bit more up to the new beds then fill in the gap.

This is all digging down through bought in rubble filled crap.I have not dug out quite as far as the fence where stuff as been accumulating for years yet.
Cooler weather and a bit of rain should speed things up. I'm really still no nearer to figuring out the relative levels of the marsh, the tree, the deck and beneath it, than I was two months ago.

you probably have got a better idea than you started with but i could not start to get to grips with it from the "above" snaps

any way to get to the bottom and take snaps in the big swamp looking towards the garden?

add a thing of known size in the photos

string is very useful as well

off the wall thought, but if there are online LIDAR images for your patch measuring is redundant

making sure it is stable when you hang up the pick and barrow is what matters

eyeball is a good start, snaps can share that for other input

take snaps from the marsh with a "comparator" measure for distances and gauge the angle with a bubble stick or trigonometry

The readily available Lidar may not be very good as some of it only seems to be available in low resolution. It may be useful here, but is not infallible as it threw up some non existent images in our wood, which proved to be a hollow between two fallen tree roots and missed some other features somehow.

Can't get down to the marsh as yet!
One the fence is reached I may achieve that.

elevation and angles, the micro geology and existing "stable" flora all need to be put into the equation to plan how best to ensure the nice new garden stays where you put it

Kind of need a wide angle lens to show this, but quite like the geometry of what I'm seeing. The rest of the garden is pretty curvaceous contrasting with the right angled work like growing area. Planning more beds on the right terracing down and keeping that theme. Need to demolish a lot more first though.

Rain did call off play today

A gratification day. A tranche of beds completed and mostly filled. Trickier state of affairs behind the camera as I'm getting down to solid rubble. I'm guessing this has been keeping things in place over the years and I want to be working with that and not against it. The conundrum comes at a perfect time though. I got enough earth to terrace the greenhouse level and pausing for thought whilst demolishing the rest of the deck is no bad thing.

Not sure what you are asking? I just put the camera into widest aspect ratio for the pic and then uploaded without choosing to resize. I did first fire the pic at FB and saved to the PC from their which reduce the resolution to be below the 2mb upload limit, but anyone photo utility would do that just as well.

i think that answered my question, thanks

just under 2M is easy to do, i recon my prob is i have seen mine at high res and raw on a good screen and the posted ones do not look as nice

tis me not the end result, considering how fast i can fill a Tb ssd tis sensible to keep posted snaps at a small size

Looks as if you are coming on well. Down to 'ground level' is always a good thing.

A view over the fence and down to below the marsh deck. Still trying to guess heights.
Not nice weather for doing much today.

good you got that far, it looks like a few meters vertical

once you can get down and do some trigonometry the drop and current angles should be clearer

tis quite steep
