Cheese BeanosWe had them last night, beans on toast with cheese melted over the top, but what do you call them?
Or do you prefer your beans on the side/on top, like my DH?
This is to further a very serious discussion, you understand!

It has to be well-frazzled cheese on toast, with beans on top, and a fried egg on top of that.

That's why I have the well-toasted cheese under the beans. Can't stand cheese melted onto soggy food [also e.g. grated over a pasta sauce]

I'm with you Gil - cheese on toast cooked till slightly crispy with beans on top. I'd never thought of cheese over the beans, sounds over-gooey
Or sometimes without the beans and with a poached egg instead

Ah, but if you toast it on both sides first, before putting the stuff on top to toast again, the crust gets too burnt, especially if you like the cheese well done!
Toast one side, turn over, butter the other side (right to the edges, pet hate), add beans, add cheese, under the grill again.

Lincolnshire poacher's a goodun, I don't need to say which beans (do I?). I'd say butter is down to individual choice (as long as it's not unsalted) as is bread.

right it has to be toast done in the toaster, buttered, beans on top, POACHED egg nestled into the beans, strong chedder grated on top and flashed under the grill.
its a lot of work for what it is but done right its food of the gods

Yeah, agree with Tahir, strong cheddary type cheese, and the rest is personal choice. I like a bread with bits in, but we used to have them with white bread as children (though I think my Mum still only buys white bread, so that explains that).

So that's toast, optional bacon, beans, cat and pigeons and then cheese? I suppose you need to use the lowest shelf setting on the grill with that lot. May I ask what's your prefered cat?

I'm from the north-west too. Eggs, beans, cheese - on toast - I was brought up to believe you had one or the other, not two at a time. I was quite grown up before I even heard of perming two from three

Hmmm. My parents are from the North West, I think my putting the beans on the side was possibly some form of rebellion
But - I hate it when the toast goes soggy - never tried it cheese first...might have to experiment with that.

Breifly so as to not hijack i woke up with serious stomach pains, made it to work for 5 mins and then went to A&E, blood tests and xrays had them thinking gall bladder or ulcers and they gave me morphine and anti sickness meds, turns out it might be much less serious but might have to have a look with a camera, so no more spicy food or me

Toast in the toaster buttered, then Marmite, then the Beans, then Tabasco, then the Cheese, then either two fried or two poached eggs, then lots of Salt and Pepper. Mmmmm

make cheese on toast (marmite optional)
heat beans (with chilli sauce but not if you have marmite)
pour beans over 1/2 of the cheese on toast on plate
you can have crispy cheese on toast, soggy beany cheese on toast and you can mop the last of the bean juice up with the crusts from the cheese on toast.
I can't believe I've never thought of adding an egg to the mix
