Electric powered spit roaster !Prototype complete. Undergoing tests. Ran for 8 hours yesterday with two lengths of steel attached to the arms to simulate 100 lbs off centre.
The windscreen wiper motor ran VERY hot. But didn't burn out. Further testing required.

so how hot would it run if it was 2 foot from a roaring blaze??

Good point. Also whats the duty cycle for a screen wiper motor? Bet its not long enough to cook a pig. Would a washing machine motor be any better? Or go for a full sized proper cont use elec motor. More cost but less warranty repairs/ unhappy customers.

I was planning on using the half oil drum filled with charcoal. As this is free standing, the temperature can be regulated by moving the heat source. (Rigger gloves supplied) 
I will price up some contiously rated TEFC motors, Gearbox £140.00 Battery £52.00 so far,
I will thank not to giggle at my MDF pig madam....
