Repair Hozelock spray?

Each year I manage to lose at least one of these spray heads - usually due to 'someone' leaving them out and a frost coming along and splitting it.
Of course this year we've done it again. A handful of frosts all winter and someone leaves the sprayhead attached overnight after hosing down the dog.

So, is there a way of sealing a split (more a barely visible crack a couple of inchs long) in the plastic body? Can it be glued, melted together or is there some other magic?

Plumbers solvent weld (for plastic waste pipes) might be worth a try...although you may need to back it up with a binding around the barrel if your water pressure is high.

dpack

runny superglue ,dry it indoors and slightly open the crack to apply the glue by capillary action, press back hard ,job done

milliput is also an option

solvent weld only really works on pvc and unless it is in two bits getting it into the crack will be rather tricky

Do you know what? I refuse to buy hoselock. None of the stuff lasts.

If it insists on leaving itself outside there must be an industrial version you could get away with mistreating.

We use CK fittings on the hoses at work. Linky

If it is solid type of plastic then heat a screwdriver and gently run it over the split to seal let it rest and try it-slowly increase the pressure, in case! If it is in flexible pipe then cut it out and use a hose joiner-damn the cost!

Thanks for the tips. I'll try them out.

I really should buy the metal stuff, knowing how disobedient plastic is.

Next time I wil go for the CK stuff.
