Repairing a wicker/bamboo chairI'm sitting on a chair like this at the moment:

Very comfy, but just thinking about falling apart.
Theres two concentric rings that make up the base held together by what looks like strands of bamboo/grass. You know the stuff, you see it wrapped around the arms of old conservatoty furniture. Because the chair part sometimes rubs on that, its wearing loose, and I need to work out how to fix it... Having drawn a blank on a web search, thought I'd bother you lot.
Any ideas?

Two ways to do it.
Firstly the cheats way.
Bind the joint with pva glue soaked yarn then glue the old stuff over the top.
The real way
Use wetted bamboo bark and start on one spar with a clove hitch. Wrap around using I'm guessing without seeing the joint a square lashing and then end with a clove hitch and a stopper hitch. Now dry the joint and it should tighten a lot. Becareful when getting it tight as the stuff snaps really easily.

Isn't the stuff called 'rattan'? If you can find a proper upholsterer/ furniture refurbisher they should be able to point you towards a supplier.

A long, long time ago, Sally posted instructions for the structural repair of a wicker basket (IIRC) using rawhide strips obtained from a dog chew.
Soaked in water, it becomes manageable and can be trimmed into thin strips. The strips can be used to tie the pieces together. And when the hide dries out, it tightens and hardens.
Neat, I thought.
I'd guess the same technique could be used on the chair.
Here's the old (basket) thread
